Coldstream is a Dynamic place to live, and with it’s own butchers, bakers, vegetable store and hardware store, it is a self sustained border toon.

It is continually changing and is a beautiful place to live because people here always remember it being worse and the town has support unequalled.

The larger commercial store has run out of essentials due to adverse weather but the local butcher and baker and vegetable shop still continue to supply us. The local corner store is supplied by local producers and was only unable to supply items from the large concerns such as Warburtons bread, but locally supplied bread rolls were delivered no problem.

With the support for the local stores gaining more momentum in popularity, the sever weather is certainly highlighting how essential the local store is to the small town. Many stores welcomed faces they have never encountered before this time of isolation from the big town supermarkets. I for one am pleased to see the weather forcing us back into our communities and hopefully the friendly and personal approach from the stores owners will ensure that these new faces will now visit more frequently.

Our environment and our planet are uniquely Dynamic. We wish to be Dynamic and even ask for dynamic people when advertising jobs. But Dynamics means change and unfortunately we still like to have those employees behind a desk in the office so we can keep an eye on them. Maybe it is time to become Dynamic ourselves and alter the way we conduct our business commitments.

Computers and Internet now make virtual offices possible. Dynamic people are not hard to find, dynamic business’ are, the majority are unwilling to change a very old and outdated model of workplace. How many days are lost to adverse weather? how many will be lost in the future?

Dynamic business for our dynamic environment is what is called for. I can work from a Kent office when sitting in Scarborough, therefore it is feasible that I can work from a Kent office when sitting in Miami.

During the snow I never lost a days work and my clients were able to have tasks completed. Forward thinking clients who understand and embrace the virtual office approach were able to meet deadlines and continue to obtain new business. We didn’t have to worry about trains, buses or getting the car to a stretch of ploughed road. Our Rural location was not an issue as we continued to work normally and even on weekends helping with computer issues that stopped clients from working.

The rat race has truly become a duck out of water this week. But some ducks found a way to do what they do best.
