Before submitting your site to google at http://www.google.com/addurl.html

Make sure your site has as much text in the first sections that describes the name and purpose of the site.
The reason for this is that Google submits the index page to it’s cache and the description comes from the text and imporantly make sure if there are any images they are given a meaningful ALT TAG because google includes the text from any alt tags you have on images in the first part of your page.

Once you have submitted your site and added the relevant parts for google to verify you as the owner of the site/domain,  you can then go ahead and add your site to google maps in the business section.

This is a free service from google and adds your site to any searches made in the google maps business directory,
 or go to
http://www.google.co.uk/services/

Simply add your URL and details and once google has verified you as the owner, your site details will be placed on google maps. You can add images, links and video to your google map banner.
Another way of increasing traffic and revenue on your site is to subscribe to google adsense at https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_US/?destination=%2Fadsense%2Fhome
Make sure you know the size of the area you have free for the advert space and choose the appropriate size and orientation of the advert options. Also determine what type of advertising you wish to show, ads by content will use the textt on the page to generate ads that relate to the content. This can have some unexpectred results though.
All the above are free options from google and go towards increasing web awareness of your site.
